De nieuwste aflevering van Tijdschrift voor Sociale en Economische Geschiedenis (TSEG 2014, jrg 11 no 1) is voor een groot deel gewijd aan Worthy Efforts: Attitudes to Work and Workers in Pre-Industrial Europe (Leiden 2012) van Catharina Lis en Hugo Soly. In deze invloedrijke en hogelijk gewaardeerde studie over de waardering van werk (kerkewerk, handel, landbouw enzovoort) en werkers in de Oudheid en de Middeleeuwen is, volgens een van de review essays (van Jan Lucassen ), relatief weinig aandacht voor twee categorieën werkers: slaven en soldaten.
