Studied Modern History at the University of Amsterdam, where she aquired her PhD in 1999.  Present position: senior researcher, deputy director of research, project manager Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations in the period 1500-2000. Currently she is working on a project called Luxury and Labour on Diamonds as Global Commodity. She is also part-time professor of Jewish Culture at Antwerp University.

Main research interests: global labour history; history of global commodities, modern Jewish (social) history, especially the history of Jewish emancipation.
