The First Polish Prisoners

After the beginning of the 'Blitzkrieg' in Poland the German army achieved quick results. With tanks and airplanes the Polish army was trampled. On 6 September 1939 the city of Warsaw was threatened and the government had to leave the city. This picture shows the first Polish prisoners. The IISH has over 1300 Weltbild photos from Germany in the years 1938-1939 in its collection.
