In a letter dated London, 12 and 13 June 1883, Friedrich Engels enclosed a present for Eduard Bernstein. It was a handwritten page of the Communist Manifesto from 1848. "Enclosed is a part of the original draft of the concluding chapter from the Communist Manifesto that you may have as a souvenir. The first two lines were dictated and written by Mrs. Marx." This only remaining page of the Communist Manifesto is part of the Marx-Engels papers at the IISH.
