On May 27, 1887, Erich Kuttner was born in Berlin-Schöneberg. As a social-democrat he advocated the interests of those who had been disabled in the war and fought for a fair legal system in Germany. After his flight to the Netherlands in 1933 - Kuttner was Jewish - he studied the Dutch Revolt against Spain in the sixteenth century. He was not to live to see the publication of his book on the subject. He was killed in Mauthausen on October 6, 1942.
