From 26 until 28 March 1915 the International Socialist Women Conference took place in the “Volkshaus” of Bern (Switzerland). Socialist women from Great Britain, France, Russia, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland called for an international action of women workers against the First World War and issued a resolution and a manifesto with this aim. The chair of the conference was Clara Zetkin, the International Socialist Woman Secretary, Anželika Balabanova acted as a translator and was one of the most important organisers of the conference. The organisational infrastructure was provided by Robert Grimm.
