In 1955 Nazim Hikmet, the Turkish communist and poet, stayed in Budapest at the invitation of the Turkish Service of Radio Budapest. He started a series of radio broadcasts on political and literary themes. The broadcasts feature some of his best known poems. On 30 August 1955 Hikmet read a passage from his epic about the war of liberation to mark the Turkish victory. The IISH has eight audio tapes from these Radio Budapest broadcasts. They were also published on CD.
