Posters From Vietnam

In 2001 the IISH received a collection of 26 Vietnamese posters, an important addition to its current collection.

Interesting to note is the emphasis on health issues: five posters are warnings against contamination from HIV, two posters deal with malaria, two with the negative side-effects of drug abuse, and one poster advances contraception as a means of birth control. The other posters treat subjects like commemorations, important aphorisms by Ho Chi Minh and safe driving (2 items).

The posters are recent examples of government propaganda in a country where the ruling communist party is still trying to disseminate its old values in modern times. Her a few examples, more posters in the IISH catalogue.
