The year 1988 was a very busy and productive one for the Institute. It proved possible to realize many of the plans made before and shortly after the
reorganization of the Institute. In addition to the acquisition, cataloguing, indexing, research and pub lishing which are the everyday activities of the IISG,
many members of staff were also engaged in a number of other projects. One of these involved, of course, the complete removal of the Institute to the Eastern
Docks area. This necessitated close involvement in the redevelopment workthere, and complex and careful preparations for our subsequent relocation.
