7 October 2008
Since 2008 the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has been organising the World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) on 7 October. It is a day for mobilisation for all trade unions across the globe, from Fiji in the east to Hawaii in the west. Every year hundreds of activities in a hundred countries are carried out. WDWW 2014 was dedicated to 'Climate Justice: Catastrophic weather events caused by climate change are already ruining lives and livelihoods, yet political leaders have still to find the courage to make a global climate agreement.'
