Greece Is Prepared

At the end of 1911 the Balkans are on the eve of a war. It is clear that Turkey is losing power and various countries prey on its remains. Tiny Greece is eager to expand in the north, towards Thrace and Macedonia. Crete had already allied itself with the mainland in 1908. In the same year the first edition of the nationalistic paper Hellas appeared. In this issue of 2 October 1911 an all-Greek spirit is kept alive in wartime. The Greek warrior on the front page 'is prepared'. The photos inside show a panorama of 'Greece', as well as groups from Crete and Macedonia.
