Dockers from Antwerp, Belgium, stopped work during the month of September 1907 to get one more frank pay (of five Bfr.) Strike breakers from England caused a lot of fighting in the streets and the army was mobilized. The Mayor proposed a compromise of 5,50 franks. This was agreed upon, but in the end it was not implemented. The strike was a success for the Belgian union of transport workers which was now no longer a `quantité negligeable'.
