Polisario, the movement for an independent Western Sahara, was officially established on May 10, 1973 with the intention of militarily forcing an end to Spanish colonization. At the meeting the slogan "through the rifle we will gain our liberty" was heard. This was translated into action with the attack on the Spanish military post El Khanga ten days later. The date of May 20 was commemorated as the beginning of their liberation struggle. The IISH has posters and a few issues of the journal "20 Mai."
