Dowlatabadi Papers, inv. no. VI
On 30 May 1926, the congress of the International Alliance for Women's Suffrage met. For the first time a representative from Iran was present: Sadique Dowlatabadi (1882-1962). Dowlatabadi, a former student at the Paris Sorbonne University, had published the first Iranian women's magazine Zaban-e Zanan since 1919. Back in Iran she stopped wearing the veil. From 1928 she was responsible for the education of girls and women at the Ministery of Education.
