South African ministers visit IISH

On March 25th the South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nkoana-Mashabane and Dikobe Ben Martins, Minister of Energy honoured the IISH with a visit. They were accompanied by a large delegation among whom the South African ambassador to the Netherlands, Peter Goosen.

The party was hosted by IISH director Henk Wals and Kier Schuringa, archivist of the IISH’s Anti-Apartheid and Southern Africa collections.
The delegation was given a tour of the Institute and looked at some highlights from the Anti-Apartheid collection of the IISH, including letters by Nelson and Winnie Mandela and publications by 'Broadcasting for Radio Freedom'
Minister Nkoana-Mashabane and Minister Dikobe Ben Martins were in the Netherlands because of the Nuclear Security Summit, The Hague.

About the IISH South Africa collection

The Institute preserves a large collection around the Anti-Apartheid movement and Southern Africa solidarity committees in the Netherlands. This summer an exhibition, based on these collections, is organized in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in South Africa and the South African Embassy in the Netherlands.
