Jan Lucassen Elected Academy Member

On May 18, Jan Lucassen was elected a member of the Netherlands Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr Lucassen is a senior research fellow of the IISH and was its Director of Research from 1993-2001. He also holds an extraordinary chair of International and Comparative History at the Free University of Amsterdam.

The KNAW has a maximum of 200 regular members, 110 in the Science Division and 90 in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division. Those eligible for membership are active scientists with an excellent scientific record. Members are appointed for life. Jan Lucassen joins Jan Luiten van Zanden as the second IISH researcher to be thus honoured.
