Disobedient Objects

'Disobedient Objects' is a powerful exhibition in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (26 July 2014  - 1 February 2015). Many 'disobedient objects' in the present exposition are on loan from the IISH in Amsterdam.

From Suffragette teapots to protest robots, Disobedient Objects is the first exhibition to examine the role of objects in movements for social change. It demonstrates how political activism drives a wealth of design ingenuity and collective creativity that defy standard definitions of art and design.
Objects on loan from the IISH include many badges from the anti-Apartheid movement, a replica of the Freedom-statue at Tian'anmen-square 1989, banners from the squatters movement in Amsterdam and textiles from the antiglobalist movement.
