Dutch Nazi Charity

'Winterhulp' [Winter help] was a charitable effort by Dutch Nazis modelled on the German example and established in the fall of 1940. By making it illegal for other charities to ask for money on the streets, it ensured itself a monopoly position in the field. People in the street smeared slogans such as these on posters: 'Winterhulp helps the war', or 'Not even a button from my fly for Winterhulp.' (This refers to the 'frugal' method of dropping a button in the collection box rather than a coin.)
