In 1980 the British trade union TUC struggled with the Thatcher government. To protest against the economic and employment policies it called for a national "day of action", which led to a violent reaction in the press. In 1981 the Campaign for Press Freedom issued a postcard with the previous day's headlines. The title of the card reads "anti-strike hysteria: did the 'free press' present your point of view?"
Campaign for Press Freedom is part of the collection of the International Mass Media Research Center (IMMRC), a library of Marxist writings on mass communication and culture in various countries.
