A revealing document located among the records of the Confederación Nacional de Trabajadores (CNT) clarifies why Buenaventura Durruti (Léon, 14 July 1896 – Madrid, 20 November 1936) agreed to move to Madrid in November 1936.
Art Historian Almudena Rubio is a specialist in the Photographic Archives of the Propaganda Offices of the Federación Anarquista Ibérica (FAI), of the Social Revolution and the Spanish Civil War. She is working on the process of digitalization of the CNT-FAI Archives.
Her article Durruti must leave for Madrid without delay” unveils a revelatory document which, in her own words: ...'helps us to understand why Buenaventura Durruti, much to his regret, finally opted for travel to Madrid in that fateful November of 1936’.
