Naaborko Sackeyfio-Lenoch will give a lunch seminar titled: 'Nation-building, the labor movement and Transnational networks in an Emergent Ghana'
Naaborko Sackeyfio-Lenoch is Associate Professor of African History at Dartmouth College. She specializes in 20th century African history with a focus on Ghana and West Africa. Her research examines how African actors and the institutions they created have engaged with internal processes of continuity and change while adapting to address the profound forces of modernity, colonialism and other global dynamics of the twentieth century. She is author of The Politics of Chieftaincy: Authority and Property in Colonial Ghana: 1920-1950 (University of Rochester Press, 2014). She is currently working on a second book that examines larger questions about the extent of Ghana’s internationalism during the late colonial and independence era through an exploration of the individual biographies of men and women, whose lives and work intersected with the birth of a new nation and its aspirations.
