Photo Collection Brussels, Coin Cabinet
Bas-relief on the triumphal arch of Constantine the Great (315 CE) in Rome with the representation of a coin distribution scene or congiarium. The coins falling out of the wooden (?) counting device can be seen in the fold of the toga of the recipient (extreme left). In the middle a box containing the money and on the right an administrator checking the name of the citizen.
