Balochistan is a province of Pakistan, but Balochi speakers can be found in Afghanistan, Iran, the Arab Emirates, Turkmenistan, and even in Africa. The Balochi language is related to Kurdish, and the status of the 10,000,000 Balochi speakers is similar to the Kurds. They want national reunification and self-determination. Abdul Karim Shorish (1912-1986) was editor-in-chief of the first Balochi newspaper, Noken Daur, 'to promote Balochi language and literature'.
Usually Balochi is written in Arabic script.
