Forty years ago, the democratically elected Chilean president Salvador Allende was overthrown in a violent military coup. Indignation was great in the Netherlands, where solidarity activities to support Allende were massive.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the events in Chile, there is a small web presentation of posters of the Dutch solidarity movement with Chile in the collections of the IISH.
Included (as PDF) is an article by Jan de Kievid on these posters as sources for Latin American research in the latest issue of European Review of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
