The CASA (Culture in Another South Africa) Choir was founded in Amsterdam in 1987 to support the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa. The choir participated in the welcoming of Nelson Mandela on the occasion of his first and second state visit to the Netherlands in 1990 and 1999.
The photo album of the Casa Choir shows successively: the members of the CASA Choir on the balcony of the Amsterdam Municipal Theatre at the Leidseplein, 16 June 1990, the CASA Choir singing Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrikan and meeting Mandela at Schiphol Airport in February 1994, the CASA Choir welcoming Mandela on his second visit to the Netherlands in 1999 in collaboration with a choir of schoolchildren of a primary school and the mayor of Amsterdam, Schelto Patijn, and finally Mandela taking part in a canal trip in Amsterdam with members of the Dutch Royal Family.
